I am a faculty member in Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communication in Ottawa, Ontario, where I teach and write about media and cultural materialism in its Communication and Media Studies programs.

My first book, List Cultures: Knowledge and Poetics from Mesopotamia to BuzzFeed (Amsterdam University Press, 2017) traces lists and listing as a cultural technique of administration and imagination.

Prior to arriving at Carleton, I was Assistant Professor (LTA) in Trent University’s Department of Cultural Studies and also taught in Western University’s Faculty of Information and Media Studies (FIMS). I earned a Ph.D. in Media Studies at Western, where I studied with Bernd Frohmann and Nick Dyer-Witheford.
